This is the second time i see you writing completely wrong things about Germany. Do you have a reason for this ? How many fights has Canada fought in the last 50 years ? So would it be right to call Canada a country afraid to fight just because they haven´t to in the last years ?
There are two parties in Germany filled with Putin Sympathizers, the extreme right-wing AfD and the BSW (which didn´t even manage to get into the Bundestag in the last German general elections).
As Mr. Christensen mentioned in his article the new german government tries to put the Sondervermögen through the old Bundestag to prefend the AfD from blocking it.
There is a great consense between the biggest parties in Germany to put immense amounts of money into a german and into a european army. You will understand this in the next month in case you don´t have to much prejudices against Germans...
The Bundeswehr took part in the Afghanistan mission. A few german soldiers lost their lives in Kandahar. By the way, it was America that left Afghanistan within a few weeks and and the last troops left in 3 o`clock in the morning - without informing their allies before.
Afghan regular forces came in the morning and found empty bases. It was a "like a thief in the night" while their allies had almost no change to evacuate all their personal. There have been pictures of afghan people hanging on the wheels of airplanes starting and falling down to earth from about 50 - 100 metres.
But you should know these pictures...some of you guys have been there in Kandahar, too.
One last thing:
Germans have been involved in the first WW and have been responsible for WW 2...and for millions of dead people.
Since then it is self evident that Germans grew up which a special sense for military affairs because of our history. Maybe other nations are not able to understand this but for a lot of people is has left a bad feeling to give Leopard 2 tanks to ukrainian forces with the possibility that these tanks would kill people in regions where the Wehrmacht and SS has killed thousands of innocent civilians.
But you should not confuse historical awareness with pants shitting. Until now we came to terms with all that fucking jokes about Germans sitting in a safehouse while soldiers from other countries have to fight our wars.
The simple thing is:
We simply don´t want to attack other countries when there is no reason to. Therefore, Germany refused to take part at the Irak War.
But if you think Germans will wave a white flag when you are trying to attack our country, you will see, that a bullet from a historical aware soldier may kill you exactly as a bullet from a russian soldier invading a souveran neighboor state.
It would be really great if other nations would try to understand that we are in a special position because of our history. At the moment, Germany is building up a bataillon to support Lithuania with 4800 soldiers in the next years.
This is a statistic about the support for Ukraine where you can see which countries has supported Ukraine in the last three years. You can have a closer look if you are interested:
Sorry, but i am totally fed up with all that stuff. Canadians at first should understand that. Canadians are well known as friendly people not seeking for a fight wherever they can get one. That doesn´t mean they are not ready to fight when it is necessary...
So same here in Germany...only without the friendly people...:-P
Look at the statistics. Germany provided more military help than any other country except the USA.
And yes, Olaf Scholz was the wrong chancellor at the wrong time. But that has nothing to do with being afraid to fight. It has a lot to do with that stuff i wrote you in the other comment. The discussion about Taurus has to do with its reach. They can fly 500 km so there has been the possibility that Ukraine would attack russian territory and the Nato would get a war member at that moment.
I don´t know what the new chancellor Merz would have made, but he is quite more offensive than Olaf Scholz was. This is - in this case - a good news...
Not as long as Germany is afraid to fight and most parties are filled with Putin sympathizers
To paraphrase one of those superhero films: "And here comes Germany, spends his life avoiding the fight because he knows he'll win."

I'm referring to Olaf holding back from providing more support to Ukraine when it mattered most.
Did you read all my words ? I don´t think so.
Look at the statistics. Germany provided more military help than any other country except the USA.

The situation had worsened under Trump. Germany and the rest of Europe has to step up or else
Should hope so!!!
A lot has happened since you posted this. Seems like Russia woke their ancestral enemy up.
🤡
Thanks Hans. It seems it is a race of good against evil with the clock runnig down...
