Flash Reading in Copenhagen Metro
Books rather than phones absorbing passengers' attention in the Metro - this is a way to show the advantage of reading over scrolling.
Imagine this: You enter the metro for your usual Saturday morning trip. Looks pretty normal, until you realize that most passengers are focused on their—not phone, but book! Reading as a flash event organized by the Copenhagen boutique (‘delicatessen’) bookshop Thiemers Magasin.

It happened on Saturday 20 September, dubbed ‘lille bogdag’ (Little Book Day) and it was set up by the bookshop-cafe-workshop that has two outlets in Copenhagen, one in the bohemian-posh corner of Frederiksberg, the other in Kvindernes Bygning (Women’s Building), a historical women’s cause organization headquarters, now mainly office hotel.

Little book day
This yearly event (for more than 10 years) is the book fair of all the small, indie publishers (of quality, they add themselves) in Denmark. Books published are generally by local authors, but translated works are also accepted. This year, the fair and associated events took place at the Designmuseum Danmark in Bredgade - obvious for a metro travel, because it is right around the corner from Metro station Mamorkirken (The Marble Church). Once the flash participants reached the church, they were treated to a musical literature performance by author T.S. Høeg.
The flash reading event caught the attention of foreign media in places like Tokyo, Jordan, Dubai, Mexico of course local TV2.
